GMC Crew Cab Trucks: Pickup Truck Sales
By:
Published: September 5, 2007
Though pickup trucks have been around for a long time, the GMC crew cab truck is a relatively recent phenomenon, especially in the US. The first real GMC crew cab truck was the 2001 Sierra. Crew cab pickup trucks are models that have an extended cab, but with four doors and seatbelts, instead of merely a bench.
In the past, they were full-sized and used in the US mostly as company trucks, capable of seating up to six people while still carrying a full load in the back.
Recent truck sales since 2000 have shown a resurgence of more compact trucks. An example is the compact GMC crew cab trucks, specifically the 2002 Sonoma. It is geared much more towards consumer use than company use. While the GMC crew cab truck has a hefty 5200 pound capacity for towing, it is still fairly luxurious in the cab itself. These trucks are meant to be the only vehicle a person could ever need, whether it be for driving the family around or hauling materials for home construction. The entire realm of GMC crew cab truck sales, especially compact ones, has been looking up.
Even though they are gaining in popularity, there are not many GMC crew cab truck models. There are the aforementioned Sierra and Sonoma, as well as the Canyon. The Sonoma only became a proper GMC crew cab truck in 2001, and was discontinued in 2004 in favor of the Canyon. The Canyon is still being produced, and is an attempt to create a more affordable GMC crew cab truck. Comfort and style are also high priorities, especially with the realization compact crew cabs are used for more than simply driving around. Although the towing capacity and truck bed are used quite often, they are not the only important features. The Canyon is also fairly spacious and has great amenities for the passengers and driver, such as an automatic transmission or heated leather seats. However even with these comforts, it still has the ability to tow just about anything.
GMC crew cab trucks can be used for anything normal pickup trucks can be used for, such as a base for a business; able to carry around heavy tools, materials and the like. But GMC crew cab trucks are also capable of housing an entire family, and serving all the needs an SUV or minivan can. The flexibility of GMC crew cab trucks is what makes them so popular. It is extraordinarily convenient to only have one vehicle that meets all the needs a person has. GMC crew cab trucks are some of the most versatile vehicles on the market, and the affordable options can be cheap alternatives to having both a work truck and family car.
